高矩形外壳是指不能用一次引伸就能成形的盒形工件。这类另件通常相对高度H/B较大,或角部相对半径r/B较小,必须通过多次引伸才能获得所要求的形状和尺寸。按照罗曼诺夫斯基提出的方法,把不带凸缘的尺寸为(A×B)的矩形外壳看作是由两个边长为B(矩形外壳的短边)的半方形盒加工中间部分(A-B)组成的(图1),这样,两个边长为B的半方形盒就展开成为两个半园,而中间部分(A-B)则按折弯展开,根据面积相等的原则,该盒形工件的毛坯是一个椭园形。
