According to reports, the US North American industry classification system has recently redefined the information industry. According to this new definition, the information industry refers specifically to the business of transforming information into commodities. It includes not only software, databases, various wireless communication services and online information services, but also the publication of traditional newspapers, books, films and audiovisual products . Production of computers and communications equipment, etc., is no longer included and is classified as a branch of manufacturing. One of the most important changes is the first time that “information” has been treated as a “product,” thereby defining “information industry.”
