1934年6月8日,日本驻南京领馆副领事藏本英明莫名失踪,中日关系更趋紧张。为防止日军借口发动军事进攻,国民政府在南京城内外展开密集搜索的同时,采取外交手段与日方积极沟通与联系,此次外交危机随着藏本的被寻获而化解。下文所选一组史料包括时任参谋本部参谋次长的贺耀组向蒋介石报告有关事态发展的密电,反映了事件过程中军方的心理。
June 8, 1934, the Japanese Consulate General in Nanjing, the British Consul General Hideo inexplicable disappearance, Sino-Japanese relations even more intense. In order to prevent the Japanese military from using the pretext of launching a military offensive, the national government conducted intensive searches both inside and outside Nanjing City and adopted active diplomatic means to actively communicate with Japan. The diplomatic crisis was resolved with the discovery of Tibet. A selected group of historical sources selected below include the HE Yao-sheng, then the staff chief of the staff headquarters, who reported to Chiang Kai-shek on the recent developments in the affairs of the military and reflected the military psychology during the incident.
