詹姆斯·乔伊斯的早期代表作《一个青年艺术家的画像》不仅创造性地采用意识流方法刻画人物的成长历程，而且猛烈地抨击了扼杀生机的现代天主教体系，尤其是对主人公斯蒂芬成长道路的描写，揭示了西方现代社会青少年成长中的严重危机和症结，对于变革腐朽社会体制、创造新的进步人道主义的社会生活，产生了震聋发聩的影响作用。鉴于我国评论界对此论题尚少适时的讨论，本文从意象分析、成年礼意义和意识流的人道主义三方面尝试做出探索。

In view of the fact that our critics have not discussed this topic in a timely manner, this article attempts to explore the three aspects of image analysis, the meaning of adult rites and the humanitarianism of stream of consciousness.
