宋代是中国古代十分注重礼乐制度重构的历史时期之一。大晟钟作为这一历史时期宫廷雅乐的代表性礼器与乐器,无论形制、纹饰还是青铜制造工艺,均反映了宋代礼乐制度与金石学理论研究,以及青铜编钟铸造等所达到的历史水平。20世纪90年代末以来,通过对三十余件现存海内外大晟钟遗物实地考察、音响实验,以及在此基础上的音乐性能研究,宋代宫廷礼乐重器大晟钟高雅造型之下所蕴含的俗乐标准音高的历史原貌,被清晰地揭示出来。大晟钟以其高雅的艺术品质与大雅的艺术追求,穿越千年,呈现出宋代编钟文化的历史嬗变及其艺术魅力。
