本文从杨国枢教授“双Y理论”对马斯洛“需要层次理论”的丰富和完善中，感到应有一种更合理的解释，来说明人在追求需要满足这个永无休止的过程或状态，通过再对各价值观理论进行分析后，得到人在追求不断满足需要的这个过程中，受“类本能”的驱动这一结论，并认为：“类本能”是人追求需要满足这一永恒状态的内部心理机制。
