May 21, Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Mathematics and Systems Sciences and Lenovo jointly announced that Lenovo will undertake the national 973 project in high-performance server research and development projects. Lenovo will provide the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a terabyte-capable telecom cluster of high-performance computers, which is also the first time that Chinese enterprises have introduced teraflops of computer products. The forthcoming delivery of the LSSC-Ⅱ cluster system from the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the first formal product in China’s high-performance computer market with a throughput of more than 1 trillion times per second. The fleet will be provided to 973 units and experts nationwide, It is also used in the fields of climate model calculation and petroleum exploration and simulation, especially in the research and application of numerical weather forecasting.
