Every time I walk into the Shanghai Museum, I have to stop and stop at the Ming and Qing furniture exhibition hall, carefully look at those furniture collections by Wang Shixiang. I can not tell which one was ever seen in his house, but there is a special curiosity and kindness. One winter many years ago, when he was still living in the courtyard of Fangjiayuan, I went into the messy room with him. The stove is not busy, the room is a bit cold. However, listening to him to familiar friends, listen to him talk about their own past, for a time, I feel the material factors in this room seems to be in a very humble position. His dedication to culture, the kind of unique fascination with the art collection, overflowing the spirit of warmth. “Every time I talk about my own experience, the Yanji University student of the 1930s always made such a self-deprecating remark. However, he is precisely from this ”do nothing ", inadvertently to fulfill the historical mission of a cultural person.
