称呼语作为一种交际单位,能体现人与人之间的社会地位和社会关系。不同的文化有不同的称呼语体系,因此称呼语的使用又能反映深层次的文化内涵。通过采用定性和定量相结合的方法考察英汉硕士论文中作者自称语使用的异同并从社会语言学及文化角度对比分析其原因。英汉硕士论文的作者都倾向于使用第一人称复数指称自己,第一人称复数的使用体现了人称代词的“权势和同等观”和作者的礼貌策略;而由于英汉文化的差异,硕士论文中用第一人称单数或名词指称作者的情况有差异。
Addressing as a communicative unit, can reflect the social status and social relations between people. Different cultures have different appellations system, so the use of appellations can reflect deep-seated cultural connotations. Through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper examines the similarities and differences between the author’s self-proclaimed language in English and Chinese master’s thesis and compares the reasons from the perspective of sociolinguistics and culture. The authors of English and Chinese dissertations tend to use the first person plural to refer to themselves. The use of the first person plural reflects the “power and equality” of personal pronouns and the author’s politeness strategy. However, due to the differences between English and Chinese cultures, There are differences between the first person singular or the noun referring to the author.
