Aromatic hydrocarbon receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor, which mediates the toxicity of aromatic hydrocarbon pollutants to humans and animals. At the same time, it participates in the transmission of many key signaling pathways in cells. Recent studies show that it not only plays an important role in the carcinogenesis of environmental pollutants, but also highly expressed in breast cancer, stomach cancer, lung cancer and other cancer cells. Therefore, its potential role in the development of cancer has become the focus of attention. This article reviews the recent literature on aromatic hydrocarbon receptors and cancer and explores its role and mechanism.
