清凉山茶产于广东省粤东北梅县市东南面海拔800多公尺高的清凉山上.据有关资科记载,清凉山种茶历史悠久,距今已有四、五百年的历史.制茶工艺精湛,所产茶叶香高味甘醇,在国内、外享有传统性的声誉,远销东南亚各地,深受海外侨胞的欢迎.清凉山具有得天独厚的茶树生长环境,山高林密,云雾缭绕,雨量充沛,日照时间短(每天只有4~5小时),直射光少,漫射光多,冬季稍有霜冻,气温偶或在摄氏零度以下,夏季不酷热,气温宜人,昼夜温差大,湿度高,有利于茶树的生长和茶叶化学成分的形成,茶树芽叶肥壮,持嫩性强.
