Shang Yong, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, pointed out in the “Symposium on Science and Technology to Strengthen Independent Innovation in Science and Technology” organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology on February 17, 2005 that China will adhere to the prominent position of promoting independent innovation in all its science and technology work. We should focus on improving the capability of independent innovation and speeding up the building of a national innovation system with Chinese characteristics.
