The authors retrospectively reviewed 69 patients aged 17-75 years (mean age 46.5 years) who had vertigo from Meniere’s disease between 1971 and 1987 according to the diagnostic and treatment outcome criteria of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology. All patients were pure tone audiometry, speech recognition rate audiometry, ENC, internal auditory canal X-ray examination. Most show terminal-type fluctuating deafness, with 57 other than 12 vestibular Meniere’s disease having deafness, a speech recognition rate of at least 50%, and / or an average hearing threshold of 50 dB at 0.5, 1 and 2 KHz.
