九月的一天,在北京团结湖小区,我有幸见到了我国著名书法家王遐举。他虽然早已过了古稀之年,鬓发如银,但身板硬朗,精神饱满,看上去仍保持着壮年男子的气质。爱好书法的人,对王老深湛的艺术造诣、朴厚雄阔的独特风格和他在国内外书法界的地位大都略有所闻,却不知王老在体育锻炼上也有其独到之处。用王老本人的话讲:“运动是我探求书法艺术的‘基石’。”原来,王老年轻的时候,身体一直很瘦弱。写百八字以后,就觉得头晕目眩,浑身乏力。曾求医问药,也未见转机。王老渐渐感到,瘦弱的身体己成为自己探求书法艺术的障碍。他下决心要进行身体锻炼。

Wang Lao gradually felt that the emaciated body had become an obstacle to seeking calligraphy art for himself. He is determined to exercise.
