现阶段,高职院校英语教材的内容枯燥、落后,但社会发展需要高职学生认识与了解国内国际产生的新表达方式、新短语及新词汇,以便与时俱进,跟上时代发展进程。英语报刊阅读可以提高学生词汇量,增强阅读能力。高职院校的教师要看准时机将英语报刊阅读引入高职英语教学中,结合各个层次学生特点为其选择适当的报刊读物,让学生了解阅读技巧和语言特点,让英语报刊阅读在高职院校英语课堂上体现出更大作用,进而增强学生的英语应用能力。
