党和国家前任领导人李鹏、李瑞环、李岚清等都在退休后出版了个人著作。在部分著作中,一些当政时的思考及若干重大事件的原貌被还原出来,一些重大决策内幕也被披露。这一现象被人们概括为“政治透明度在逐步增加,开启中国退休高官一种新的生活方式”。他们的著述也为观察中国政治、社会提供了必要的参照系。从2003年到2006年,李鹏出版了《众志绘宏图——李鹏三峡日记》《起步到发展——李鹏核电日记》《电力要先行——李鹏电力日记》《立法与监督——李鹏人大日记》等4部日记体回忆著作。
Li Peng, Li Ruihuan and Li Lanqing, the former leaders of the party and state, all published personal works after their retirement. In some of the writings, some of the thinking at the time of assuming power and the original appearance of a number of major events have been restored. Some major insider decisions have also been disclosed. Their writings also provide the necessary frame of reference for observing Chinese politics and society.
