新时期十多年来,我国的古典名著《水浒》、《红楼梦》、《西游记》、《三国演义》、《聊斋》、《儒林外史》等都陆续搬上了屏幕,唯有《镜花缘》一直受到冷落.最近,中央电视台已把《镜花缘》改编成二十集电视剧,并将于近年内搬上屏幕,信息传出,观众莫不翘首以待.当我们肯定了《镜花缘》的文学价值以后,遇到的问题是如何改编.应该承认,不是凡具有文学价值和历史价值的作品都是可以搬上屏幕的.否则,为什么《镜花缘》自十八世纪问世以来,它始终没有占领过戏剧舞台呢?《镜花缘》受到的冷落,与层出不穷的三国戏、水浒戏、红楼戏的热闹场面造成一个鲜明的对比,这种现象不得不引起改编者的深思.
