吴江市邮电局是全国百强邮电局之一、江苏省县(市)邮电局中的佼佼者,其业务收入、业务总量和经济效益在全省县市局都名列前茅,这与吴江邮电局的经营管理密不可分,同时这也与吴江局把现代化的计算机技术应用到生产经营管理上分不开.目前在吴江局,计算机的应用面非常广,从邮政到电信,从各个机房到所有营业窗口,从生产到管理无处不存在计算机的应用.这些应用都对全局的生产、经营、管理等产生了巨大的影响,极大地提高了工作的效率,减轻了劳动强度,并且间接或直接地产生了经济和社会效益.但另一方面,在计算机的应用上由于全省邮电各专业之间计算机应用没有统一的规划,因而县局的计算机没有充分发挥应有的作用与达到相应的效益,存在较大的不足.
