茶宴,就是以茶代酒款待宾客之举。它的出现,最早可追溯到三国时代,西晋陈寿所著《三国志》中的《吴书·韦曜传》记载:“孙皓(注:吴国君主)每飨宴,无不竟日,坐席无能否,率以七升为限,虽不悉入口,皆浇灌取尽。曜素饮酒不过二升,初见礼异时,常为裁减,或密赐茶荈以当酒。”《晋中兴书》记载:“陆纳为吴兴太守时,卫将军谢安尝欲诣纳……安既至,纳所设唯茶果而已。”又据《晋书》的《桓温列传》载:“温性俭,每讌惟下七奠,拌茶果而已”。可见,以茶代酒,茶点作宴,晋代就开始了。不过,茶宴一词的最早文字记载,首见于刘宋·山谦之的《吴兴记》,提到“每岁吴兴,昆陵二郡太守采茶宴会于此。”到了唐代,饮茶之风盛行,又加
