胡适以特别的方式大力推崇寿生的小说可谓是现代文学史上一桩耐人寻味的个案,寻析这个中缘由,既可窺胡适关于小说的美学理念,亦可见寿生小说的特征。从艺术内容看,寿生的小说表现了一种乡土经验,与胡适文艺平民化的美学观念相契合;从艺术精神看,寿生的小说以一种真实得近乎奇特的手法表现社会和人生的悲剧,令人震惊,具有反传统“大团圆”的小说模式的功能,实践了胡适所提倡的新文学应具备西方悲剧精神的美学主张;从艺术形式看,寿生的小说用了一种活泼、生动、自由的乡土方言作为语言媒介工具,体现了胡适建设“国语的文学”、“文学的国语”的美学追求。
Hu Shih’s novel, which strongly advocates life in a special way, is an intriguing case in the history of modern literature. Looking into this reason, Hu Shih can not only see Hu Shi’s aesthetic ideas about the novel but also the characteristics of his life novel. From the perspective of artistic content, Shousheng’s novels show a kind of native experience which is in line with the aesthetic ideas of Hu Shi’s literary and civilian popularization. From the artistic spirit, Shousheng’s novels show the tragedy of society and life in a real and almost peculiar way, Shocking, anti-traditional “happy ” novel mode, the practice of the new literature advocated by Hu Shi should have the western tragic spirit of the aesthetic ideas; from the art form, the life of the novel used a lively, Vivid and free native dialects, as linguistic media tools, embody the aesthetic pursuit of Hu Shi ’s construction of “national literature” and “national language of literature”.
