Objective: To study the relationship between tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and diabetic microangiopathy. Methods: Thirty-seven patients with diabetes mellitus were divided into three groups according to whether they had microangiopathy or not: 32 patients with DM3 (DM1 group), 35 patients with DM2 (DM2 group), 25 patients with normal control group Serum TNF-α, were compared between the three groups. Test subjects total cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and other indicators, the three groups were compared. Results: The level of tumor necrosis factor-α in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was significantly higher than that in controls (P <0.01). The expression of TNF-α in patients with diabetes mellitus and microangiopathy was significantly higher than those without diabetes mellitus (P <0.01). Conclusion: Upregulation of TNF-α may be closely related to the occurrence and development of diabetic microangiopathy.
