截至2008年年末,全国住房公积金缴存总额为20699.78亿元,缴存余额为12116.24亿元,新增余额2511.13亿元。据3月22日住房和城乡建设部发布的《2008年全国住房公积金管理情况通报》显示,全国住房公积金缴存余额首次突破了万亿大关。仅从北京地区来看,截至2008年年底,累计归集住房公积金1813.77亿元,提取904.24亿元,余额909.53亿元。同时,截至2008年年底,北京已累计发放住房公积金贷款369507笔,金额851.85亿元,回收金额433.27亿元,余额418.58亿元。存缴的速度远远超过了开支的速度,住房公积金就越积越多。如何盘活闲置公积金?
