McDonnell Douglas announced that a diode-excited laser target indicator / rangefinder (LTD / R) has been successfully used in Haier missiles. The company said it was the first successful demonstration of this diode-inspired indicator for the Haifa missile. LTD / R is currently the only diode excitation laser system that can be used for target indication and distance measurement. LTD / R was mounted on a Helitow anti-armor helicopter at the Army Uma test site in Ariz.
