党的十四届六中全会,审议并通过了《中共中央关于加强社会主义精神文明建设若干重要问题的决议》,对建设社会主义精神文明的指导思想、目标任务、工作方针和重大措施,都作了明确的要求。改革开放以来,党中央再三强调社会主义现代化事业,是物质文明和精神文明协调发展的事业。社会主义精神文明,是社会主义重要特征。多次告诫全党,任何时候,都不能以牺牲精神文明为代价,换取经济一时的发展。
