在橡皮上钻孔,可采用切削部分具有锯齿形状的特制管状钻头。钻头材料用y8碳素工具钢;外径等于待钻孔的直径;钻头切削部分做成45°的锯齿,齿距等于齿深。钻头的锯齿用圆片角度铣刀铣通,因此,所得到的齿数是偶数。钻头的齿深与齿距(3~5公厘)的选择跟待加工橡皮的厚度及钻头直径有关。当钻头齿数Z=18,直径为φ20公厘时(如图1)、齿距跟齿深根据下式算出。
