Daughter in a New York hospital childbirth. Just as the child left the mother’s abdomen, the health care worker wore a special plastic circle on the child’s ankle and mother’s wrist, with the child’s sex, date of birth and serial number printed on it. Since then, the nurses have to check the numbers and other details on both sides of the circle when the mother is in the hospital, every time her child is breast-fed from the baby room or from the mother’s back to the baby room. Before leaving the hospital, the nurse cut the plastic circle for the mother and the child after the last check. Slightly complicated is that there is a small device on the child’s feet, which alerts the device automatically if the child is stolen or someone tries to cut the calf during the hospital stay.
