春都集团的前身是洛阳肉联厂,始建于1958年,当时职工不足百人,国家投资仅200万元。1985年国家放开生猪经营后,他们依靠自我积累滚动发展,逐步实现了由工厂制向公司制、由粗放型经营向集约型经营的转变,国有资产大幅度增值,经济效益高速增长。集团现有职工5000余人,其中专业技术人员1205人。到1995年末,企业资产总值达16.53亿元,净资产8.59亿元;拥有各种设备2680余台(套),其中日、德、荷等国先进设备200余台(套);有大型冷库两座,总冷藏能力达2.15万吨。1995年国务院发展研究中心《中华之最荣誉大典》将该公司列为中国最大火腿肠生产基地和中国最大PVDC塑料食品包装薄膜生产基地。1995年集团实现工业产值21.31亿元,完成销售收入22.05亿元,利税总额达2.74亿元,在全国500家最大工业企业中名列第228位,经济效益连续三年居全国同行业第一。
