The 1949 Housing Act was the important act that the United States issued after the end of World War II and was the starting point for the urban renewal movement in the big cities in the United States after the war. With the support of the federal government, local governments and real estate developers, the bill clearly stipulates three aspects of slum clearance and reconstruction, the construction of public housing and a clear government-private cooperation and development model, which has a far-reaching impact on the postwar American cities . Although the U.S. government subsequently issued a number of housing laws, it did not fundamentally overthrow the basic model of the 1949 Housing Law.
