OBJECTIVE: To observe the change of irradiation intensity of UV lamp with cumulative usage over 1,000 hours. Methods: Sixty-four tubes with a total of more than 1,000 hours of use were selected as the experimental group, and randomly selected as the control group, 74 tubes with a cumulative use time of less than 1,000 hours. In the standard state that temperature, humidity, voltage meet the requirements and measured in the UV detector, were recorded for each tube of the cumulative use of time and intensity of exposure. Results: The average cumulative time between the experimental group and the control group was statistically significant (t = 16.877, P <0.001). The cumulative use time of the experimental group was significantly longer than that of the control group, and the two groups of data were comparable. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the average irradiation intensity and the pass rate (t = 0.755, P> 0.05; x ~ 2 = 0.011, P> 0.05). Conclusion: The cumulative use of UV lamp is more than 1,000 hours, should not be used as a basis for lamp replacement. UV irradiation intensity is the criterion to judge the qualified lamp, so it is required to measure the intensity in the standard state.
