一般在鑑定岩石时,首先將标本經过切、磨、粘等手續,制成0.03公厘厚的薄片,在透射光下进行观察和研究。若在薄片下发现有不透明的金屬矿物时,则要重新在原来标本上磨制光片,进行金屬矿物的鑑定。如果不透明金屬矿物的种类很多时,則金屬矿物和透明矿物的关系在光片下就又无能为力了。为解决光片和薄片在鑑定中各自存在的缺点,我們試用了文献上所介紹的“光薄片”来补偿这个不足。所謂“光薄片”是一种既能作薄片,
