步摇是中國古代婦女的一種首飾,慕容鮮卑是鮮卑族系中一個有影響的部族,在十六國時期的中國北部大地上先後建立過幾個“燕”國。本文從步摇、步摇冠的考古實物研究出發,結合文獻記載和其他資料信息,討論一些有關步摇、慕容等古代的文化交流問題和民俗現象。内容大致有幾個方面:中國步摇的起源、名稱;金步摇、步摇冠從中西亞向中國傳入及發展的情况;服飾等生活用品和鮮卑等北方民族某些名號的關係;少數民族和漢人語音的相互影響以及語音“訛變”問題,等等。最後,探討了有關歷史年代的幾個問題。
