Various types of arc welding, all produce radiation. The possible harmful effects depend on the electromagnetic spectrum that causes the lesion and the affected tissue. Ultraviolet rays are commonly absorbed by the cornea and the lens and can cause painful keratoconjunctivitis. Although there have been reported xenon arc retinal damage, but the disease is still rare. The author reports one example below.
