The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced in Stockholm that it will award the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economics to Prince Paul Krugman, an economist at Princeton University, in recognition of his contribution to the analysis of international trade patterns and the geographical location of economic activities. The Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on the 13th that the U.S. economist Paul Krugman won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2008 for a prize of SEK 10 million (about US $ 1.4 million). Krugman creates a new theory of trade and analyzes how economies of scale influence trade patterns and the area of economic activity. He predicted the Asian financial crisis in 1994 and several years later asserted that the economic and foreign policies of the government of President George W. Bush will eventually trigger a serious economic crisis.
