通话时的语音信号是模拟信号，如果要在数字通信系统中传输，就要和数字信号之间进行转换。转换的方法很多，可以归纳为两类：一是根据语声波形的幅度进行编码，叫作波形编码，例如脉冲编码调制（ＰＣＭ）和增量调制（ＤＭ或△Ｍ），还有自适应差分脉码调制（ＡＤＰＣＭ）等；
