王淦昌是江苏常熟人,核物理学家,1929年毕业于清华大学,1933年获德国柏林大学博士学位。中国核工业总公司研究员、科技顾问,中国物理学会名誉理事长,中国核学会名誉理事长,曾任第二机械工业部副部长。50年代领导建立了云南落雪山宇宙线实验站,使中国的宇宙线研究进入当时国际先进行列。在11国联合原子核研究所工作期间,领导首次发现了反西格马负超子。60年代提出激光惯性约束核聚变的设想并获得实验证明。在中国第一颗原子弹和第一颗氢弹研究试制中作出了突出贡献
Wang Ganchang Jiangsu Changshu people, nuclear physicists, graduated from Tsinghua University in 1929, 1933 received a doctorate from the University of Berlin, Germany.
