The dispute over the South China Sea is a prominent case concerning the widest range, the most complicated issues and the most intense conflicts in the territorial disputes over sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in East Asia since the end of the Cold War. Disputes over the sovereignty over the South China Sea islands, the delimitation of the maritime boundary and the development of marine resources, and even a sudden increase in military conflicts, have led to the tense regional security situation in the countries (regions) around the South China Sea. The great powers outside the United States and other regions, for their part, have tried their utmost to intervene in the issue of Nansha, making the situation in the unstable South China Sea more complex and ever-changing and becoming one of the hot spots of concern to the international community and East Asian countries.
