The vertical seismic profile (νSρ) is a very effective tool in a variety of seismic exploration efforts. However, a complete evaluation of this approach can only be achieved after extensive computer processing of the original field data. Sometimes processing can establish the relationship between important rock parameters and acoustic properties and often establish very reliable connections between log data and ground seismic profiles. The basic theory of processing technology is well known. However, the techniques used in the processing of standard ground seismic profiles are generally modified to adapt them to the favorable conditions associated with vertical seismic profiles. This article describes the treatment methods and their issues related to the interpretation of data from vertical seismic sections and ground seismic sections.
