海洋公园是海洋保护区的主要模式之一,是现阶段世界各国和地区进行海洋生态保护的一种重要形式。自1937年美国建立哈特拉斯角国家滨海公园(Cape Hatteras National Seashore)以来,澳大利亚、美国、英国、日本及印尼等国相继建立起国家公园体系。海洋公园以海洋生态系统与海洋景观保护为主,兼顾海洋科考、环境教育及娱乐休憩的发展模式,使生态环境保护和社会经济发展等目标均得到很好的满足,得到民众的普遍认可。
