In November 1983, the Ministry of Health of Finland approved the application of Norplant, a contraceptive implant in Finland. Implants embedded in the medial upper arm of women subcutaneous contraceptive effective time up to 5 years. Clinical studies have shown that the first 3 years of pregnancy rate and sterilization are similar, 5-year average effective rate was 95%.
