榆林专区位于陕西省的最北部,地垮北纬36°57′-39°36′,东经107°11′-110°25′.共辖榆林、米脂、绥德、神木、靖边和定边等六县,总面积约4万平方公里.境内不仅有强烈的水蚀,而且也有着强烈的风蚀,因此是黄河中游土壤侵蚀最为严重的地区.
