According to the data, the reserves of non-ferrous metals that have been proven on Earth as of 2002 are estimated to be 22 years for copper, 164 years for aluminum and 77 years for nickel, if calculated on the basis of the present mining rate. Compared with the global bauxite reserves, China’s bauxite resources are scarce. Some predict that by the year 2015, the bauxite resources in China will basically be exhausted.
