虱子、臭虫、跳蚤不仅咬人吸血,妨碍人们休息、睡眠和工作,还能传播传染病,危害很大。虱子能传播流行性斑疹伤寒、回归热等传染病。消灭虱子的办法很多,较简单的方法是把有虱子的衣服、被单煮沸10分钟或蒸半小时,或用百部草浸液泡半小时就能灭虱。若不能采用蒸、煮、浸泡时,用10％滴滴涕或1％六六六粉,均匀撒在衣服和被褥上,白天撒被褥,晚上撒衣服,经过半天或一夜,将药粉扫掉。
