大戟天牛是专食乳浆大戟的天敌昆虫，幼虫以蛀食大戟茎杆的木髓部为食，引起茎杆的枯黄死亡，减少根部的贮存物，最终导致植株的全部死亡；对地上部分枯黄死亡的大戟植株检查发现，６８％是由大戟天牛幼虫蛀食造成。该虫专食性强，耐饥能力高，寿命也长，是比较理想的防治乳浆大戟的天敌昆虫
