“群文音乐”是社会大众直接和全面参与其中的音乐行为及其成果,同时也是他们之文化习得、应用、传承和交流的一个重要载体与渠道。在群文音乐中,各民族音乐文化的内涵更加丰厚,音乐艺术的风格更加多样,所涉及的音乐事象更富于不朽的文化和艺术价值。因此,进一步加强群文音乐的建设实践,可以为我国多元音乐文化得以更加充分地发掘、保存、传承和弘扬,拓展一条重要的方法途径。以“本土化”为价值导向的中国群文音乐的建设,需要一个系统化的社会机制作为保障。第十五届“群星奖”音乐类获奖作品的地域分布,呈现出“南强北弱”“、西高东低”的分布特征;这些特征体现出我国群文音乐建设在地域方面的不平衡性。第十五届“群星奖”音乐类获奖作品的内容与风格元素构成,在总体上显现出传统音乐日趋强化的“本土优势”特点;造就这一特点的直接原因,在于近十余年来在新的社会文化背景中逐渐兴起的中国“原生态音乐热”。
