本文从英语一词多义、同音异形词、名词的- s属格、人称代词的特殊用法及英语句子结构特点等多种客观语言因素的角度探讨了英文歧义现象,认为英文歧义可根据语句作者或说话人的语义意图分为无意性歧义和故意性歧义两大类,无意性歧义从根本上不值得推崇,因为它易使人们陷入迷惘和一些无谓的语义争端;故意性歧义只要使用得当,不仅能够拓展语句的表意领域,而且还可丰富言语的表达技巧。
This thesis explores the ambiguity of English from the perspectives of polysemy, homophone, - s-genus of nouns, special usage of personal pronouns and the structural features of English sentences, and so on. Or the speaker’s semantic meaning into two categories of unintentional ambiguity and intentional ambiguity, unintentional ambiguity is not worthy of praise because it is easy to get people into confusion and some unnecessary semantic disputes; Intentional Ambiguity, if used properly, Not only can expand the ideographic field of the sentence, but also enrich the speech expression skills.
