期刊是具有很强的时效性的。由于当代科学技术的飞速发展,知识新陈代谢的不断加快,读者利用较多的常集中在现期与近期的期刊,而早年出版的期刊利用率显著下降,且随着时间的推移逐步消失。因而,补订缺期期刊时,要考虑时效,不要把有限的经费用在失效的过刊上。对于重印的旧刊,如《东方杂志》等,要视本校、本馆的实际情况而订。老师研究需要,或是补缺等,可酌情订购。 Journals are highly time-sensitive.
