Utilization of thermal plasmas for destruction of waste materials has been in the focus of interest of scientists as well as industrial companies in recent decade.The gasification of biomass to produce syngas is a specific process of plasma waste treatment, which has not been so far intensively studied.Thermal plasma offers possibility of decomposition of biomass by pure pyrolysis in the absence of oxygen, or with steichiometric amount of oxygen (gasification) to produce mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.As production of fuel gas for energy production is primary purpose of the process, energy balance and efficiency are crucial.
