The Micro-foamed ethylene-propylene-diene rubber/polypropylene thermoplastic vulcanizate (EPDM/PP TPV) was prepared by twin screw extruder and mold-pressing using foamed microsphere as physical blowing agent.The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of TPV and micro-foamed TPV was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).The results showed that the nonisothermal crystallization processes of TPV and micro-foamed TPV may be described using the kinetic equations of Jeziorny and Mo, but do not agree with the Ozawa equation.The onset and maximum crystallization temperatures for micro-foamed TPV are higher than that for pure TPV at the same cooling rate, showing the nucleating function of the blowing agent.While the crystallization half time (on behalf of the crystallization rate) tl/2 for micro-foamed TPV apparently are larger than that for pure TPV at the same cooling rate, showed the blowing agent may retard the crystallization process of TPV.The larger size and highly branched structure of HBP are the main reasons for the slower crystallization.
