　　BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: It is well-known that alcohol consumption is associated with stroke risk as well as with aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 gene(ALDH2)polymorphisms.Epidemiological studies have shown a J-or U-shaped relation between alcohol and stroke.A common functional polymorphism,ALDH2 Glu504Lys has been identified,which affect the clearance rate of ethanol.
