Bio-char,producedfrombiomass pyrolysis,could be densifiedto deal withitsimperfectionoflow bulk and energy density,poor transport and storage,troublesome to co-fire with coal.In this study,rice husk char was used to compress into pellets with different kinds of binders,such as lignin,starch,Ca(OH)2andNaOH.And therelatedphysical properties,compressive strength andmoisture uptake of pellets were investigated to elucidate the characteristics of pellets compressed with varies binders.Results showed that pellets compressed with binders had higher volume density and energy density,elevated fixed carbon andreduced ash content compared withraw bio-char.
